Muting my feed this week (intentionally, unlike all the other times I just don’t post for a while) to amplify voices that need to be heard — voices we should have been listening to all along.

In the meantime, I’ll keep sharing content from Black creators in my stories, donating to bail funds, talking to my kid about racism, continuing to listen and learn, and overcoming my COVID-induced agoraphobia to vote in a local election. (And also crying and eating and drinking too much because let’s be real.) What are you doing this week to help dismantle systemic racism? Seriously, I want to know, so tell me in the comments, please!

WHITE PEOPLE: If you’re tired of everyone posting about racism, imagine how exhausting it is to actually be subjected to it, and how triggering and traumatizing it must be for black people to see this happening over and over again. And if you’re disappearing into your own little world because the news is just too much right now, I hope — at the *absolute minimum* — you can recognize and acknowledge what a privilege that is.

🍹I haven’t been to the grocery store in months and Kyle does all of our cooking because I’m either attached to a baby or a laptop right now (sometimes both), so I totally missed the fact that it’s rhubarb season. But I woke up to a couple notifications that my rhubarb whiskey sour is popular over at @food52, which reminded me that I *also* made this amazing rhubarb tonic and took this kinda sexy picture that I hated at the time and now maybe I appreciate it more because I’m just a potato with udders. I just remembered that this time last year, I had the whole house to myself FOR THREE WHOLE DAYS. Three fucking days of solitude. I can’t even imagine that now. I used the time to build these patio panels in anticipation of my @article outdoor furniture and give the chicken coop a half-assed paint job. I also spent $175 to have the waistband taken in on the three most perfect pairs of vintage Levi’s. A few weeks later, @kuhoppy knocked me up, and let’s just say my Memorial Day weekend — and my wardrobe — look very different. Very, very, very, very different.
